Job Description

Blenderbox is looking for a Lead Wordpress Engineer with Full Stack competence to provide technical leadership for our Wordpress project teams.

Our Lead WordPress Engineer at Blenderbox will be responsible for driving development and support of Wordpress software products designed for our higher education, nonprofit and government clients.

Cross-functional collaboration is key at Blenderbox. The proper candidate will thrive working within agile, cross-functional teams and proactively contribute subject matter expertise.

This is a full-time remote position. The majority of your work will be focused on back-end engineering, templating, code reviews, with occasional front-end engineering.

Responsibilities:

* Become the guiding voice of our Wordpress Practice
* Establish and maintain a trusting work environment through demonstration of empathy and expert technical competence
* Integrate functional, technical, and business requirements into efficient and scalable software designs
* Collaborate with UX / UI Designers and advise on technical feasibility of proposed design approaches.
* Compose and maintain detailed technical specifications.
* Solve technical challenges using available open source modules / plug-ins and follow modern best practices.
* Write secure, performant, maintainable and testable code for client and internal projects.
* Proactively raise and help resolve issues throughout the software product lifecycle.
* Contribute technical expertise in client meetings and communications.
* Proactively and clearly communicate technical risks and tradeoffs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Minimal Qualifications:

* Prior experience in a digital agency environment
* 4+ years experience with OOP PHP / LAMP-stack applications
* 2+ years of production experience with WordPress including 5.0+ and Gutenberg
* Proficiency with JavaScript, CSS.Experience with REST, APIs, JSON
* Experience with content migrations
* Experience with Caching technologies (CDN, Redis, Varnish, MemCache).
* Experience with popular WordPress managed hosting providers such as WP Engine or Pantheon.
* Working knowledge of software security and performance optimization principles
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with cross-functional teams
* Ability to troubleshoot technical issues
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Solid problem solving, organizational and time management skills
* US Citizen or authorized to work in the United States.

Nice to have:

* Experience in other content management systems / frameworks
* Experience with Lucene-based search (e.g. SOLR, ElasticSearch)
* Experience with React and/or NodeJS
* Experience with modern static site generators
* Experience configuring and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and writing automated tests
* Salary range: $90-125k commensurate with experience

Chili Piper is seeking talented, motivated engineers to join our fully remote team building interactive data applications. As a part of our growing back-end team, you will collaborate with others throughout our organization and technology stack to build products that are revolutionizing the way our clients achieve their business goals.

On the back-end team, we invite you to bring your experience and perspective to conversations about the future growth of our applications and environment. We work closely together, with a healthy and non-combative review process aimed at improving code as well as developing each others skills. In short, we strive to write solid, thoroughly tested, and readable code; and we are seeking a new contributor to our already highly effective team.

What You'll Do

* Build API to a multi-tenant backend services to enable easy access by internal applications, clients, and partners
* Continuously integrate and ship code into the cloud environment
* Develop applications from ground up using a modern technology stack such as fs2, Cats, Tapir, Cats Effect (but not limited to it).
* Maintain and improve parts of the existing codebase
* Perform code reviews
* Participate in defining the architecture of modern tools and runtime for operating your code such as GCP, Docker, Kubernetes
* Work directly with Product Owners to deliver products in a collaborative and agile environment
* As a part of growing team, you will collaborate with engineers throughout our organization and technology stack to build products that are revolutionizing the way our clients achieve their business goals

What We're Looking For

* 4+ years of experience in Scala with solid understanding of FP
* Production experience with Scala modern functional stack like Cats, Cats Effect (Monix/ZIO)
* Hands-on experience in designing and implementing high performance systems, modular FP-based architecture
* Hands-on experience in both relational and NoSQL data stores
* Experience working with Scala http stack
* Experience in designing and implementing event based systems is a great benefit
* Solid understanding of continuous integration, deployment and monitoring
* Self motivated and self-directed
* Strong English communication and documentation skills
