About the role

We are looking for a full-time DevOps Systems Engineer to assist in designing, and implementing, and maintaining bitfish and stake.fish’s infrastructure strategy. 

Location

Seoul, South Korea or Bangkok, Thailand or Remote

Job Responsibilities


* Build infrastructure to monitor, detect and stop attacks in their tracks

* Proactively make suggestions for improving bitfish products and internal processes

* Create and maintain system procedural and technical documentation.

* Conduct system administration activities for Linux servers, which includes routine, proactive daily management of the health, stability and availability of system infrastructure. Activities include proactive monitoring, patch reporting and addressing fall out, security.

* Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot multiple technologies such as IPS/IDS, SIEM, WAF, HSM, packet capture, and network malware detection solutions

* Stay up to date and build on peer-to-peer networking security best practices, and research new attack vectors

* Conduct internal + external penetration testing, and provide remediation supports

* Create, maintain and communicate threat models + risk assessments for all bitfish systems




Requirements


* Working knowledge of risk assessment tools, technologies, and methods

* Experience designing secure networks, systems and application architectures

* Experience setting up and maintaining software in both data centers and cloud environments

* Experience managing server infrastructures with high availability requirements

* Expert knowledge with Disaster Recovery Planning and executions

* Experience administering other security tooling such as IDS, DDoS, SIEM, WAF, HSM, and/or packet capture tools

* Experience protecting against and mitigating real world attacks such as DDoS

* Deep understanding of sockets, full networking stack and Linux security

* Experience building and implementing Kubernetes infrastructure in large production environments

* Knowledge of build automation and CI/CD processes and tools

* Experience in tuning and monitoring databases, message queues, stream-processing technology, data pipelines, and reliable real-time systems is a plus

* Basic understanding of blockchain fundamentals, Proof-of-Stake, Validators, Block Producers and staking pools

What will your day look like?

Turn on your monitor and join the hangout for your daily standup. There are some GitHub pull requests that need your attention, time to put your Ansible hat on. Lunchtime - you go and meet some friends at your favourite cafe. When you get back to your desk, your Terraform environment has finished provisioning and you kick off some smoke tests on your Kubernetes cluster. Then it’s back to your earlier automation work. Before you know it, it’s time to close the laptop.

What will you be doing?

At NearForm, we work with international clients who are industry leaders in their respective fields. Our role is to help them build solutions and platforms; help them to launch new product ventures and fundamentally change how they operate.

Join a highly skilled multidisciplinary team; typically consisting of designers, front-end and back-end experts, DevOps engineers, and also members of the client team. This mix follows a modern agile development methodology where we run 2-week sprints with a defined backlog, daily standups, weekly demos, sprint planning and sprint retros; all with as little ceremony as necessary.

What do we ask of you?


* 6+ years experience developing at an enterprise level

* Modern DevOps mindset using best of breed open source tools and technologies, including, Terraform and Ansible

* Experience working with containers and container orchestration, including, Docker and Kubernetes

* Experience managing and automating real-world platforms/applications on AWS

* Experience with Continuous Integration and the building of continuous delivery pipelines

* Security awareness throughout the stack

* Data storage experience with RDBMS and NoSQL technologies

* US or South American Timezone

* Availability for short-term travel on a semi-regular basis

DGACM is looking for a DevOps Engineer to provide management of Microsoft Azure infrastructure and optimization of software development and deployment processes. The incumbents will report to and work under the direct supervision of the Senior Computational Linguist.  

Under delegated authority, the DevOps Engineer will perform the following duties: 

Support software development processes and implementation of new software releases through management of Microsoft Azure infrastructure;  

Proactively monitor and maintain hosting and development infrastructure in Microsoft Azure cloud; 

Maintain and implement security best practices; proactively investigate improvements to infrastructure security; 

Suggest and assist with implementation of process and cost improvements to Microsoft Azure hosting infrastructure; 

Implement scripting and coding solutions to support the software lifecycle, including provisioning of cloud resources; 

Cooperate and communicate closely with software development and quality assurance teams to ensure efficient processes; 

Maintain and optimize deployment infrastructure; 

Keep abreast of developments in the field of Microsoft Azure and DevOps and propose new tools, processes and strategies as appropriate;  

Perform other work-related duties as assigned.  

Qualifications/Special Skills  

Academic Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Relevant additional post-secondary education is an asset.  

Experience: A minimum of five years of experience in the Microsoft Azure cloud management is required.  

Experience in developing Powershell scripts is required. Experience with Azure IaaS and PaaS required. Experience with Software Configuration Management and build tools such as Team Foundation Server or Azure DevOps is required. Experience with deployment tools like Octopus Deploy or Azure DevOps Release Pipelines is required. CISSP or equivalent security certification is desirable.  Practical experience and knowledge of C# coding is desirable.  

Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
