Application Security Engineer

Job Description

Are you an Application Security Engineer who is passionate about empowering engineering teams to build secure software? Redox is searching for an exceptionally talented Senior Application Security Engineer to join our Security Team. In this role, you will set the direction for our application security processes, tools, and capabilities. Responsibilities:




* Be an active voice in our small, focused security team as the primary engineer responsible for Application and Product Security.

* Empower Redox to reduce avoidable vulnerabilities introduced into code, reduce the time to detect vulnerabilities that do exist, and mitigate vulnerabilities detected as quickly as possible.

* Approach securing our company pragmatically, empathizing with engineers, developers and security champions to understand their needs.

* Perform risk assessments, threat models and code reviews for our application.

* Communicate issues and progress on complex problems in terms easily understood by stakeholders.

* Coordinate and manage our penetration testing and bug bounty programs.

* Support and build valuable training activities that uplift developer awareness of secure coding practices.

* Build and maintain tools that detect potential security issues within our development pipeline.

* Maximize security impact and reduce risk while minimizing the negative impact on our businesses and developer velocity.

* Mentor and guide engineering teams on best practices for keeping our applications secure.










Background and Experience Requirement:




* Knowledge of current application security vulnerabilities, how to detect them, how to prevent them and how to create awareness of them.

* Proficiency and hands-on experience using tools to which can detect security vulnerabilities, both statically and dynamically.

* Experience securing Javascript, NodeJS and Typescript applications.

* Experience with containerized and application mesh architectures.

* Ability to communicate complex security threats and risks into simple terms for non-security (and even non-technical) stakeholders.

* Development experience in at least two high-level languages such as NodeJS, Python, Ruby, C#, Scala, Java, etc.

* Experience running threat modeling sessions with engineering teams.










Bonus Points:




* Securing applications based on AWS Technologies

* Offensive security (OSCP) certifications

* Docker/K8 hardening experience

This role is expected to work with our Integration Engineering team, Infrastructure team and customers to help accelerate and engineer solutions that assist onboarding customers. You’ll be responsible for ensuring that customers are able to communicate with Redox, automating debugging and introspection tools and working with the Infrastructure team to help build a more robust and self sufficient platform.  

You'll be working direct with customers.  First step in the process - kick off the project right!

One of the key responsibilities that you will be responsible for the leadership of two teams of engineers: Infrastructure and CI/CD. This includes developing and leading team meetings, providing real time feedback, executing reviews and building long term plans for each team. Additionally, Redox is looking for a leader that can help solve complex day-to-day technical challenges.

Required Experience:


* You have managed and hired for DevOps teams in your past roles

* You have developed budgets and worked with finance teams

* You have demonstrable programming experience in at least one high level language

* You have a firm understanding of agile methodologies and their use cases

* You have worked as a hands on DevOps leader for 5+ years

* You have a solid understanding of networking technology

* You have a great understanding of containerization technologies

* You have an ever better understanding of Linux




Preferred Experience:


* You have scaled both CI/CD and Infrastructure teams in the past

* You have worked with open source projects and comfortable committing code back to an upstream provider

* You have worked with AWS for 5+ years

Integration Engineers provide the technical backbone for all of our integrations. Responsibilities




* Act as a technical partner and adviser for the implementation team

* Understand integration capabilities within the healthcare IT landscape to be able to design, develop, and deploy sustainable and scalable solutions

* Define, document and promote best practices for implementing and supporting our customers

* Understand, analyze and implement opportunities for process improvement

* Design and develop (code) business layer logic for our integrations

* Communicate, document, and track development requests with the appropriate product owner

Redox is searching for someone who has a firm understanding of industry trends and approaches to delivery pipelines. This role is expected to build and design software that meets the unique Redox development pipeline. As a DevOps Engineer you will be writing software, tests, checks and deployment mechanisms that assist in the software development life cycle. Additional responsibilities may include informing stakeholders of emerging technologies, assistance in architecting multiple solutions towards push stable code as quickly and safely as possible, participating in an on call rotation and assisting other engineers in resolving production related issues.
