Incident Manager - Fintech

As an Incident Manager in EMEA you’ll play the key role in driving the right level of response to incidents, determining impact and coordinate and lead fellow Paymentologists to mitigate, communicating to users and ensuring appropriate remediations and orchestrate the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) process.


What you get to do:

You’ll work together with other Incident Managers and Engineers globally to ensure solid 24/7 coverage on how we monitor, detect, respond, communicate, and mitigate incidents. 

When not managing incidents, you'll help scale our ability to respond to incidents, improve our operations, analyse data to provide insights and deepen our technical expertise in products. As a result, you’ll be seen as the protector of our users - in minimizing the impact of incidents on their business and ensuring that Paymentology is always thinking of our customers. 

  • Act as an on-call Incident Commander, responsible for driving and managing incident resolution & communications with a high level of urgency, cross-functional collaboration, and accuracy, while partnering with a global and diverse set of teams, including Engineering, Product, Customer Support, Account teams, Risk & Fraud etc. 
  • Lead all user-facing incidents across domains at Paymentology. 
  • "User First" approach to determine impact, providing accurate situation reports, facilitating comms bridges, and ensuring useful and timely external communications to users. 
  • Proactively update internal stakeholders, customers & make decisions through data and influence by partnering with Engineering, Support, and other cross-functional teams. 
  • Own the root cause analysis process while conducting post-mortems, remediations identification, and ensure problem management tasks meet SLA and user expectations. 
  • Drive improvements in the incident handling process and incident management metrics and tooling based on trends and data of our incidents in collaboration with engineering, product, and other operations teams. 
  • Ensure the creation and progression of new problem tickets for recurrent service issues in a timely manner through to closure. 
  • Drive a culture that reduces repeat incidents, helping to join the dots up through shared learning. 
  • Support the review of all incidents across all priorities to identify the thematic root causes, impacts and actions detailing accurate and timely reports to key forums to drive improved decision making.  
  • Contribute ideas to evolve our processes, working practices and stakeholder relationships so that we continue to be recognised as a high performing, value adding team. 

What it takes to succeed:

We're looking for a customer obsessed, critical thinker who can join the dots up from multiple data points and someone who loves driving a timely solution to complex problems by facilitating, challenging, and getting the best out of the team you assemble during an incident to drive the right outcomes for our customers.  

  • 4+ years of demonstrable major incident experience for organizations that run mission critical applications or always-on SaaS environments. 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple incidents concurrently with authority and influence responders with agency and reasoning skills to resolve ambiguous problems and drive to root cause. 
  • Intermediate understanding of application development, application architectures, and applications deployed in cloud environments. 
  • Good understanding of infrastructure, including physical, virtual, and container-based platforms 
  • Demonstrated quantitative, and analytical skills in data manipulation using SQL, Splunk or other tools. 
  • Excellent task management skills & must be detail-oriented with the ability to remain composed, methodical, and think fast in a high-pressured environment. 
  • Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical issues for internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Strong awareness of their teams’ abilities and know that our people are our biggest asset. 
  • Proven ability to lead with influence, work methodically and calmly under pressure, facilitating and collaborating with colleagues to deliver the right outcomes for our business and customers.

  • The role does require weekend support as part of a rotating shift-based coverage.  As we mature, we may consider moving this to an on-call arrangement.

Preferred Experience:  
  • Domain expertise in classes of incidents such as technical, privacy, security, or crisis with a strong desire to continuously learn about our products, technical issues, and systems. 
  • Ability to review complex technical details regarding ongoing issues/events and convey the key details to senior stakeholders to facilitate real-time decision making. 
  • Experience with broad user-facing communications (e.g., status pages) and/or targeted communications (e.g., direct emails, support ticket responses). 
  • Familiarity operating or managing distributed architectures with the ability to correlate system behaviours based on known inter-dependencies. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of full stack development and support. 
  • A solid & demonstratable understanding of Proven experience of working with ITIL disciplines, (Event, Incident, Problem, Change & CSI). 

This is a full-time, remote contractor position and we are looking for candidates in EMEA. Working flexible hours and shifts is essential for our remote team to function.

The Global Head of Fraud in Paymentology is responsible for leading and managing Paymentology's global fraud prevention and detection efforts.

This strategic role involves overseeing the development and implementation of robust fraud prevention strategies, policies, and procedures.

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive global fraud prevention strategy aligned with Paymentology's risk management objectives.
  • Develop and implement a strategy for Fraud monitoring, working closely with Compliance and Product teams.
  • Lead and manage a globally distributed team of fraud prevention professionals, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback.
  • Own and continuously improve team capabilities, skills, and capacity development, including key areas (like processes, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and workforce management) ownership.
  • Implement effective fraud prevention policies, procedures, and controls to safeguard Paymentology and its customers from fraud risks.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging fraud typologies, and regulatory requirements to continuously enhance Paymentology's fraud prevention measures.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as Compliance, Legal, and IT, to integrate fraud prevention efforts across all business units and systems.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with industry partners, law enforcement agencies, and regulatory bodies to exchange information and stay ahead of fraud trends.
  • Conduct regular fraud risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Utilise advanced fraud detection tools, technologies, and analytics to proactively identify and investigate suspicious activities.
  • Rigorously use data to drive decision-making, develop new approaches, evaluate program performance, and advocate for product changes that improve the accuracy of our fraud monitoring program.
  • Drive awareness and training programs to educate employees about fraud risks, prevention techniques, and reporting procedures.
  • Prepare and present reports to senior management and the board of directors, highlighting key fraud prevention initiatives, performance metrics, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Assume leadership of fraud incident handling, ensuring a prompt intervention, followed by a well-coordinated and thorough investigation, report, and successful implementation of preventative measures.
  • Engage with key clients in any matters pertaining to fraud, guiding them as subject matter experts and giving them confidence in the Paymentology platforms.

What it takes to succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Finance, Business Administration, or Risk Management. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience of at least 10 years in fraud prevention, detection, and investigation, preferably in a global or multinational organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of fraud prevention strategies, methodologies, and industry best practices.
  • Familiarity with global fraud regulations, compliance requirements, and industry standards.
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management skills, with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to analyse complex data, identify patterns, and make informed decisions.
  • Proficiency in using fraud detection tools, data analytics, and case management systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
  • Professional certifications in fraud prevention or related areas, such as Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or Certified Fraud Control Manager (CFCM), are desirable.

As a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer at Paymentology, you'll be working closely with the entire technical team to build enterprise-level, highly scalable, highly secure financial processing systems that power tens of millions of transactions and tie them to web, mobile and API interfaces that make it easy for people to issue, redeem and reconcile prepaid cards all over the world. 

This position requires in-depth knowledge of AWS,Azure and OCI services and cloud computing, and the ability to communicate architectural trade-offs & design options, so that Paymentology can make informed decisions. You will work closely with our product owners, application engineers, and security team to identify work that improves the stability, security, and self-service nature of our infrastructure, driving those ideas and projects from inception to completion.

  • Position, architect and support the implementation of AWS, Azure and OCI cloud-based solutions.
  • Design, build and migrate applications, software, and services on the AWS, Azure and OCI platform.

  • Experience in Automating Infrastructure deployment using IaaC tools such as terraform, Cloud formation, and ARM templates.
  • Hands-on experience with DevOps Tools preferably on GitLab or any other tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, etc.
  • Container image management experience using Docker.
  • Experience in source control management with git.
  • Scripting experience such as bash, shell, powershell, python, etc should be required.
  • Be passionate about identifying constraints or bottlenecks in engineering lifecycles and automating them.
  • Be accomplished with leveraging AWS & Azure Software Development Kit (SDK) with a grounded understanding of cloud services and best practices.
  • Manage and maintain system performance, scalability, manageability, and security requirements for mid-to-large scale programs.
  • Research, analyze, design, propose, and support the delivery of solutions that are appropriate for Paymentology's business and technology strategies.
  • Partner with development and operations teams to develop practical automation solutions and custom modules. Troubleshoot automation issues and find practical solutions that move projects forward promptly.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact and be involved with client negotiations and interfacing with management. 
  • Experience with Agile methodologies.
  • Be passionate about learning new things and solving problems.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to independently execute work tasks in a rapidly changing, fast-paced environment.

Bonus:
  • An eye for security - demonstrated understanding of how to operate pipelines at scale while maintaining the security and integrity of sensitive data.

A key part of your role as a Product Manager at Paymentology will be guiding product & engineering teams to ensure conformation to our design, and governance through a well-formulated process.

You will work within a remote team of solution architects and multiple developers disseminated throughout the world.

The ideal candidate will combine excellent problem-solving skills and communications expertise with a collaborative approach.

What it takes to succeed:

  • Experience in payments is crucial for succeeding in this role, as well as a strong technical core competence.
  • In particular, familiarity with payment scheme standards such as ISO8583 & ISO20022 is invaluable.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Product Manager, preferably in a start-up environment, with a minimum of 5 years working in the software industry.
  • Investigate, analyze, visualize, articulate, and solve complex problems and concepts and make disciplined decisions based on available information.
  • Use knowledge of Requirement Gathering and Analysis to create requirements documents and high-level process maps.
  • Is aware of and understands agile methodology and how to apply the agile mindset to all aspects of their work.
  • Understanding and experience of backend SaaS concepts related to APIs and webhooks is essential.
  • Write epics, user features, and bug stories with QA-minded acceptance criteria, as well as supporting documentation.
  • Experience with JIRA, Figma, and/or other relevant tools.
  • A nice to have is the ability to construct SQL to retrieve data from databases. 

Preferences will be given to candidates with expertise in one or more of the following:

  • Experience, knowledge, and understanding of MasterCard/Visa operating regulations and dispute resolution rules for card-present and card-not-present transactions in the full dispute life cycle from 1st chargebacks to arbitration cases.
  • Experience working on data-centric tools, including dashboards and automated reports, particularly financial and other reconciliation-related reports.
