About The Role
The Support Engineer is responsible for and works to resolve questions and UNBLOCK customers with any issues they may be facing, both reactively and proactively. The role reports to the VP of Support and is part of a team that is responsible for delivering a world-class customer support experience. 


This includes things like:
  • Be an advocate for the customer
  • Keep an eye on the various support channels and engage customers when they have questions.
  • Troubleshooting and isolating customer issues to resolve them
  • Ensure that the other people on support know what they are working on
  • Raise questions with the engineering teams when they need escalations or create posts around issues to raise awareness
  • Create bug reports when users report bug-like things
  • Ensure they handoff any inflight customer questions when they have finished for the day
  • Participate in things like planning and retros
  • Develop, maintain and review support things like:
    • Plugins
    • Tooling
  • Identify and raise any documentation changes that would benefit the custome


Responsibilities
  • Be an advocate for the customer
  • Keep our support first response times by constantly monitoring the various support channels to engage customers when they have questions (via email, Slack and Discourse, Twitter and Stack Overflow).
  • Troubleshooting and isolating customer issues to resolve them.
  • Identifying recurring themes that customers are running into so we can communicate them clearly to the rest of the company.
  • Don't be afraid to speak up and escalate to the engineering team when needed or create posts around issues to raise awareness.
  • Investigate, replicate and create bug reports when users report bug-like things.
  • Ensure handoff of any inflight customer questions when you are finished for the day.
  • Participate with team members in planning and retros.
  • Be a pro at async communication as we are a distributed team.
  • Be able to context switch and triage work on the fly, you never know what type of question will come in next.
  • Develop, maintain and review our open-source tools in various languages:
    • Plugins in Bash
    • Tooling in Golang and Bash
  • Submit any documentation changes that would benefit the customer 


Skills and Experience
  • Be a people person and have patience and empathy.
  • Being able to code: this is not only essential to be able to support our customers but also to turn around proactive support solutions, leading to more customer self-service and happiness. In support, that means Bash scripting for our Plugins and Golang for our other tooling. 
  • If you have Ruby and Rails experience that would also be a bonus!
  • Passionate about customers and the customer experience.
  • Strong understanding and experience with the tech stacks that our customers use such as Buildkite and other CI/CD, test tools, Linux, AWS, GCP, Azure, Terraform, Kubernetes, etc.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • The ability to work autonomously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work and collaborate with remote cross-functional teams.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented, hands-on environment.
  • Enjoy a dynamic & collaborative startup environment, and are comfortable with ambiguity.

Integrations Tech/Team Lead (100% remote)

Nira is looking for Tech/Team Leads with specific experience in data and services integration to join our fast growing, 100% remote team. Ideally these roles are located somewhere in the Americas (GMT-3 through GMT-7) but we'll consider qualified candidates from all locations/timezones.

As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for the overall development of connectivity between 3rd party applications and services and the Nira platform. We’re looking for strong engineers who work well on a small team and are excited about the opportunity to have a direct impact on improving customer experience. As a tech/team lead, you are someone who can see projects through from beginning to end, coach others, and self-manage, requiring good organizational skills and attention to detail.

If you are technically-skilled, creative, and collaborative, then this is the perfect position for you.

What You’ll Do
  • Take a technical leadership role in a squad of 2-5 engineers in scoping, estimating and planning of enhancements to Nira’s 3rd party integrations, informed by product management.
  • Use your strong integration analysis and development experience to deliver and drive work connecting cloud-based enterprise products and APIs with Nira.
  • Lead and supervise development of integrations with cloud services, such as Google (GSuite/Workplace), Microsoft (Office 365), Github, Gitlab, Slack, Okta, Auth0, Salesforce, Confluence, Notion and many more.
  • Design and develop API clients, webhook processors, event handlers and data transformations.
  • Ensure that implemented data/integration functionality meets performance requirements in terms of code quality, standards adherence, user loads (throughput/latency), user productivity, lifecycle sustainability.
  • Code standards, code reviews, technical planning/research, testing/QA.
  • Help train and mentor other data/integration developers.

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
  • You’ve got 3 years of small group leadership and coordination experience in planning and delivery of integration projects.
  • You’ve got 8 years of hands on data/integration engineering experience with Python, API clients, data analysis, OAuth.
  • Bonus points if you’ve also worked with AWS (particularly serverless and Lambda), Docker, Postgres, or Go.
  • You have high accountability and ownership of your work.
  • You have a bias towards action. You love to move fast, are self motivated, and a life-long learner.
  • You care about working on fast-growing products while iterating and sweating the details.
  • You’re willing to do whatever it takes, even if this means working outside of your role (occasional out of hours to sync across timezones, backend help frontend, frontend, handle customer support, etc).
  • You’re able to effectively balance speed/quality/tech debt and make engineering decisions that deliver rapid results.
  • You’re a product thinker who cares about the customer.
